It opens the image backup wizard with a source pre-selection consisting of all and only the partitions necessary to make a backup that would allow you to restore a working Windows environment even onto an empty disk. “Backup Windows”, your abbreviation of that option’s actual name, does exactly what the full name suggests. That was self-explanatory to me when I first came to Reflect, but different people and experiences again. “Image selected disks” means make an image of any disks/partitions that have their checkbox currently selected in the Local Disks interface. I would argue that for backups, Reflect’s design of opening to the former tab may therefore save a click. Those interfaces are already exposed under the Local Disks and Existing Backups tab. Reflect’s button bar doesn’t have Backup and Restore because those would presumably open some sort of interfaces to perform those functions. In that spirit, some clarifying information and food for thought: But I don’t consider Reflect’s arrangement to be necessarily worse on all counts. Differing expectations and assumptions held by different people who have had different experiences is valid.
Reflect was just redesigned semi-significantly for V8, so I personally wouldn’t expect massive changes in the near future. Most of the time I don't feel confident I am doing the right thing. Instead of a toolbar with the main functions like Backup and Restore, I have Rescue, Defaults, Updates and help? I had to disable the toolbar. Take everything below as constructive as possible. Please don't get me wrong and I apologize for my ironic tone. Coming from Trueimage, after acronis decided to change to a subscription model, I find Reflect interface rather confusing and counter intuitive.
